'Chickens for KFC': Netanyahu rips cease-fire activists in speech to Congress as Tlaib silently protests

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tore into Gaza cease-fire demonstrations across the U.S. and accused Iran of funding those protests during an impassioned address to Congress on Wednesday.

Among those in the chamber was Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., Israel's harshest critic in the House of Representatives. Tlaib has called for Netanyahu to be arrested by the International Criminal Court (ICC). She staged a silent protest for much of his speech, holding a double-sided sign that read "guilty of genocide" on one side and "war criminal" on the other.

Fox News Digital observed a member of the House sergeant-at-arms' staff speaking to Tlaib multiple times, after which she put the sign down.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., was seen speaking intensely with Tlaib at one point before returning to her original seat.

At several points in the speech, Netanyahu sought to tie Israel's war on Hamas and Iranian proxies in the Middle East to unrest within the U.S., stressing that his country is Washington's closest ally in an increasingly unstable region.

"We're not only protecting ourselves, we're protecting you," he said, eliciting a standing ovation. "Our enemies are your enemies. Our fight is your fight. And our victory will be your victory. Ladies and gentlemen, that victory is in sight. Israel's defeat of Hamas will be a powerful blow to Iran's axis of terror."

"In World War II, as Britain fought on the front lines of civilization, Winston Churchill appealed to Americans with these famous words – 'Give us the tools and we'll finish the job.' Today, as Israel fights on the front line of civilization, I too appeal to America. Give us the tools faster and we'll finish the job faster."

His comments received broad applause from Republicans, while the reaction from Democrats was more mixed.

Meanwhile, five people in the House gallery who staged protests were arrested, according to Capitol Police.

And as Netanyahu spoke, major protests were underway just outside of the secure perimeter on Capitol Hill.

"Part of the crowd has started to become violent at First Street and Constitution Avenue, NW. The crowd failed to obey our order to move back from our police line. We are deploying pepper spray towards anyone trying to break the law and cross that line," Capitol Police said in a statement.
