Federal judge blocks ICE from deporting Minnesota man and 5-year-old son

A federal judge blocked ICE from deporting a 5-year-old boy and his father their after controversial arrest drew criticism from anti-ICE protesters.

Adrian Alexander Conejo Arias, the father of Liam Ramos, is being detained with his son in Texas after being arrested by federal immigration authorities. Federal officials say Ramos fled the scene when officers arrived, "abandoning his child in the middle of winter in a vehicle."

ICE deportation chief Marcos Charles clarified last week that agents were targeting Liam's father during the arrest. They said they tried to return Liam to his family, but when they approached the house, "the people inside refused to take him in and open the door," Marcos said.

A local pastor, Sergio Amezcua, told CNN that he spoke with Liam's mother and claimed neighbors advised her not to go outside when ICE came to her door with her son.
