DHS brass blasts Chicago mayor for blaming ICE chief as crime rises after ‘safest summer’ claim

Political firestorm erupts as Chicago's mayor calls to "abolish ICE" after accusing federal agents of undermining city's historic crime reduction gains.

That comment led Johnson to cite the 1965 versus 2025 violent crime figures.

"Abolish ICE," Johnson later wrote on Facebook, posting the contents of his prior comments.
